1940s, Japanese soldier's mail, censored postcard from Koan-nan-sho, sent from a soldier with the 181 Co., via the Army Post Office, Koan-nan-sho, Manchuria, "Gunji Yubin" characters at upper left referring to the free frank priviledges used by the Japanese military during campaigns, framed violet censor strike alongside with censor's chop in vermillion, quite fresh, very fine. The sender apologises for the long delay in writing, thanks the recipient for the "heartwarming" packages received from the members of the Women's Association, and expresses his conviction of "achieving victory in this sacred war."

1943 (July 14), Olean, New York, to Hoten Prison Camp, Mukden, Manchukuo, prisoner of war cover addressed to Cpl. Bernard T. Wallon at Hoten Prison Camp, bearing printed "Prisoner of War Mail" heading and manuscript "Free Postage" endorsement, struck with Olean c.d.s. (14 Jul), blue boxed Japanese censor cachet with red chop on face, "EXAMINED BY" censor tape sealing right edge, some toning and peripheral wear, but a scarce incoming cover to Hoten Camp. Corporal Wallon, an Army Air Forces veteran captured following the fall of the Philippines in May 1942, endured the notorious "Long March"conditions of the Mukden camp, including the brutal first winter in semi-underground barracks under forced labour conditions, with temperatures reaching thirty degrees below zero. This cover was despatched in July 1943, precisely as prisoners were being transferred to the permanent Hoten camp
