1941 (April 29), Shanghai to Edinburgh, censored wartime cover, franked with single 50c blue Sun Yat-sen, tied by Shanghai (29 Apr) c.d.s., British military censorship "Examiner 1526" label with matching "Opened by / Examiner" handstamp on reverse, accompanied by original four-page handwritten letter on Indo-China Steam Navigation Co., Ltd. stationery, redirected within the city, with Edinburgh (25 Jul) arrival backstamp, , minor edge wear, else fine-very fine. Written in the final months before the Pacific War, the letter offers a firsthand account of expatriate life in Shanghai on the eve of the Japanese occupation, describing civil unrest ("the odd shoot-up or riot"), population movements, and the search for a "well-furnished flat."
