(11 Jan) and violet-red two-line "Salvaged Mail / Ex Centurion" cachet, reverse with Returned Letter Section / London Postal Region sealing label and London machine arrival cancel (27 Jun), water staining and edge wear as expected of a wreck cover, very fine for such. Imperial Airways Short S.23 Empire flying boat Centurion crashed on landing on the Hooghly River at Calcutta on 12 Jun 1939, partially submerging with its mail cargo; all passengers and crew survived.
