Oct), red tombstone-shaped Paid British arrival (11 Oct), and red
shield-shaped receiver (11 Oct), stamps cut close on two sides,
else fine. (Sc. 7, $1,400). The letter is from T. J. Pettigrew, who
reports being delayed in Paris by "a very bad fall down a dark
stair in the Louvre," before going on to detail a successful
meeting with Albert Lenoir, architect and founder of the Musée de
Cluny.
