1897 (August 28), Istanbul to Beirut, multiple re-directed postal
card, 20pa dull claret stationery card, posted from Istanbul to
Beirut, forwarded to Port Said, Aden, and Bombay, returned after
being struck with Bombay D.L.O. (18 Oct) Dead Letter Office c.d.s.,
multiple instructional handstamps including “Inconnu / Not Known”
and “Reexpedie”, a total of nineteen postal markings in addition to
multiple manuscript notations in English, Arabic, and Turkish,
including “not known, try camp” from Aden, etc., usual flaws for
such well-traveled mail, but an exceptional and striking usage.
