Cowart signed illustrated flight cover, franked with 5c Washington, tied by Lakehurst machine cancel, violet Coast to Coast flight cachets on front and back, with San Diego backstamp (11 May), signed C.E. Rosendahl (Charles Rosendahl, Akron Commander) and C.M. Cowart (Charles Marvin Cowart), a rare combination of illustrated cover bearing signatures of prominent figures from the Akron's history. Charles E. Rosendahl was a senior U.S. Navy airship officer who commanded Naval Air Station Lakehurst and served as one of the principal officers associated with USS Akron, overseeing her operational employment and later leading the investigation and recovery efforts following the airship’s 1933 disaster. Charles M. Cowart was a member of the USS Akron’s crew and perished in the crash off the New Jersey coast.
