The sender, the recipient's brother, serving with the Second Infantry Regiment of the 4th Reserve Company, makes several remarks regarding his activities on the Western Front, noting "I have now arrived in France...we have already covered about 20 kilometers today and have now reached our quarters...on August 15, we have already been engaged in heavy fighting, hopefully it will soon come to an end."

1917, Matsuyama Prisoner of War Camp, censored postcard to Germany, posted to Dusseldorf by a German soldier imprisoned following the fall of Tsingtao, with oval and framed violet camp handstamps, usual edge wear for such mail, a fine POW card. The Matsuyama Prisoner-of-War Camp was a small Japanese detention camp located in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, which held German and Austro-Hungarian POWs captured during the early stages of World War I, primarily naval personnel taken after actions in the Pacific. The sender notes that he received parcels of biscuits and cigars, and that "a little post from September arrived here."
