1906 (January 20), postcard to General Horbatt, "View Harbin", Manchuria, via Russian Military Post Office, postcard franked with 5c Numeral, tied by Couvet c.d.s., to Général Hornlatt, Chef des Chemins-de-Fer, Vieux Harbin, Manchuria, with Russian Field Post Office c.d.s. (ПОЛЕВ. ПОЧТ. КОНТ. ТЫЛ. МАНЧ. АРМ.) serving the Rear of the Manchurian Army, very fine card to a highly desirable destination, sent during the final stages of the Russo-Japanese War withdrawal. General Dmitry Leonidovich Horvat (1858–1937) was a senior Russian Imperial military engineer and administrator best known for his leadership of the Chinese Eastern Railway in Manchuria and for being one of the most prominent Russian figures in Harbin, China. Interestingly, after the 1917 Russian Revolution, Horvat opposed the Bolsheviks and became a White Russian political/military leader in the Far East where he, for a time, attempted to maintain anti-Bolshevik authority in the railway zone and Siberian/Manchurian region.
