JOHN'S-N.F.L.D. dater, violet REGISTERED and R-in-oval registration handstamps on face, red hooded circular REGISTERED / LONDON / 11 DEC 99 transit, Kenzingen (12 Dec) arrival datestamp on reverse, most attractive and very fine. The sender, R. Reichardt, was a pseudonym for Emil Reichardt Krippner, a notorious philatelist and convicted German forger who resided in St. John's from approximately 1899 to 1904.
