1931 (April 3), "City of Cairo", first flight crash cover, from London to Darwin, Australia, envelope franked with 1sh and 4d King George V definitives, tied by London F.S. machine cancellation, carried on the first experimental extension flight by Imperial Airways from Karachi to Australia aboard the City of Cairo**, which crashed at Kupang, Dutch East Indies (19 Apr)**, reverse with Darwin c.d.s. arrival backstamp (25 Apr), very fine. The City of Cairo came down at Kupang on 19 April 1931 and was a total wreck. The crew escaped without injury, and the mails were recovered and carried on to Australia by Captain Kingsford-Smith.
