1851, 10d black Jacques Cartier, trial colour plate proof, vertical pair, large margins all around, from positions 46 and 58 from the plate of 120, both positions showing similar plate marks in the white oval next to the "T" of "TEN" and right leaf, with a guide dot in the "P" of "PENCE," the top stamp with a very strong extension of the vertical frameline at top left, prominent unerased marginal horizontal guidelines above and below the lower proof, a very scarce pair and especially desirable with the plate marks, extremely fine; ex Sir Gawaine Baillie (May 2006, lot 706), Denninger.
