Holy Roman Empire, 1651 (June 15), Oettingen in Swabia, official correspondence of Count Joachim Ernst of Oettingen, folded manuscript letter written at Oettingen and addressed to Lembdingen, the outer panel displaying elegant contemporary chancery-style script with calligraphic flourishes, the reverse preserving a crisp blind-embossed paper seal inscribed "Otingensis S. Joachim Ernesti Comitis" representing Count Joachim Ernst of Oettingen (1612–1659), who ruled the Oettingen-Oettingen line of Franconian-Swabian nobility in the turbulent aftermath of the Thirty Years’ War, the contents regarding government administration, trivial edge marks in places, else remarkably fresh and very fine.
