1911 (30 Dec), First South African Aerial Post, Second “New Year’s Day” Flight, Kenilworth–Muizenberg souvenir card to Germany, bearing single ½d King Edward VII, cancelled by Wynberg Cape c.d.s., dual circular First South African / Aerial Post / Kenilworth datestamps (30 Dec), with crisp Muizenberg and Cape Town c.d.s. (3 Jan), usual edge wear, but an elusive card from this delayed flight.
The Aerial Post was re-opened for a second mail intended for New Year’s Day; adverse weather delayed departure until the evening of 2 January, when pilot Cecil Compton Paterson Driver again flew from Kenilworth carrying 1,479 items of mail to Muizenberg.
