Chief Philatelist's Pick
“Advertising covers are among my favourite things to encounter in a collection.”
Chris Green
Chief Philatelist
This one is in our own backyard. The Journal Printing Co. of Ottawa mailed this during the Central Canada Exhibition in September 1899, the city’s great annual fair at Lansdowne Park, held just one year after the Aberdeen Pavilion opened its doors. The illustration is lovely and detailed, and reflects an important moment in Ottawa’s civic life. Fascinating local history.

INSIGHTS
1844: From Prince Edward Island to Mexico - via Halifax, Boston, and three postal systems
In 1844, Prince Edward Island was a British colony of 50,000 people with no railway and no telegraph. Someone on that island needed to reach Mexico. What they navigated to do it is the story of this wrapper.
